Who this is for

PickACut is for adults aged 18 or older. We ask you to confirm this before you can upload a photo, and we do not knowingly process photos of children.

What happens to your photo

• You choose a photo, tick the consent box, and we receive it. We re-save it as a JPEG, which removes camera and location metadata (EXIF), and we shrink it to at most 1024 pixels.
• We send that photo and your style choice to a third-party AI image provider, fal.ai (its privacy policy), over an encrypted connection. The provider returns the preview image to us directly.
• With every request we ask fal.ai not to store the request input and output in its request history (the X-Fal-Store-IO: 0 setting) and to expire any output files on its network after 1 hour (an object-lifecycle preference). These are settings we send, not a zero-retention agreement. We have no contract with fal.ai that guarantees it keeps nothing, and it may keep some data for security, abuse prevention or operations under its own policies. fal.ai’s own terms govern what it does with data it receives; see its privacy policy linked above.
• Our own copy (your photo, the preview, and the style text you chose or typed) is kept on our server and deleted automatically 24 hours after you create it. A cleanup job runs every 10 minutes. You can delete it earlier with “Delete now”, and reporting a result removes it immediately. Server backups: none are made by us Render, our host, stores files on an encrypted disk..
• In demo mode (when the site shows a demo banner) no photo is sent anywhere and no AI runs.

What we do not do

• We do not create, store or compare face templates, face prints, face geometry or other biometric identifiers, and we do not use your photo to identify you. (The AI provider's systems process the image to edit it; we cannot see what happens inside them.)
• We do not use your photos to train any model, and we do not sell them or use them for advertising. We have not given fal.ai permission to train on them, but we cannot promise what its own policy allows; please read fal.ai’s own privacy policy if you want the details.
• We use no third-party analytics, ad or tracking scripts.

Other information we keep

• Cookies and browser storage. A random anonymous ID cookie (tif_uid, up to 1 year) to count your free previews and keep your results private to your browser. An age-confirmation cookie (tif_age, up to 1 year) and a flag in your browser's local storage (pickacut_age18) so we do not ask again. These are essential to how the site works; there are no advertising cookies.
• Usage counters. We store a keyed hash (not the raw value) of your anonymous ID to count your free previews; this counter is kept until we clear it, and does not contain your name or photo. We store a keyed hash of your IP address only for the current day, to limit abuse. A per-day total of previews is kept for 35 days.
• Simple first-party analytics. We write anonymous events (a visit, a preview created, an “unlock” click, an email added, a card shared, a region block) to a file on our server with a timestamp and a hashed anonymous ID. They contain no IP addresses, emails or photos and are kept for the length of this test and deleted within 90 days after it ends. We look at daily totals to see whether anyone wants this product.
• Email address. Only if you enter it to be told when unlocking opens. It is stored with the page you entered it on and a timestamp, and kept until you ask us to delete it or the test ends.
• Reports. If you use “Report a problem” we keep your message and any contact detail you typed.
• Location hint. Our hosting network may send us a country or state code for your connection. We use it only to decide whether photo features are available and do not store it.
• Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Render) keeps its own request logs, which include IP addresses, under its own policy.

Your choices

• Delete a photo and result any time with “Delete now” on the result page.
• To have your email or other data removed, contact skassemi@hotmail.com.
• If you do not consent, do not upload a photo. You can still read the site.

Where it is not offered

Photo features are not currently offered in Illinois, the EU/EEA or the UK, because we have not reviewed the laws there. This check uses location hints and is not perfect.

Security

Files are stored with random, unguessable names and are not publicly listed. No system is perfectly secure.
